Ekiti Governor Hails ‘Unprecedented’ Victory, Pledges Faster Development

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji says his re-election shows that residents have strong confidence in his administration’s record and direction. 

Speaking to journalists at the Government House in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, Oyebanji said voters made a clear choice to extend his mandate after evaluating his government’s work over the past four years.

He credited the win to the impact of his six-pillar development agenda, which he said has delivered gains across key sectors and improved living conditions for residents. 

The governor described the outcome as a decision for continuity, noting that Ekiti people are politically aware and voted based on performance.

Oyebanji called the scale of the victory unprecedented, with his party securing wins in nearly every polling unit across the state. 

He pushed back on suggestions of voter apathy, saying that political parties, the media, and other stakeholders all have a role to play in driving voter participation.

He also linked the result to public confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, stating that federal reforms have freed up resources that enabled states to carry out development projects.

The governor praised the peaceful conduct of the polls, highlighting that both the campaign period and election day passed without major incidents of violence. 

Looking ahead, Oyebanji pledged to fast-track development projects, expand his shared prosperity agenda, and prioritize the welfare of Ekiti residents in his second term. 

He thanked voters, security agencies, INEC, observers, traditional and religious leaders, party members, and other stakeholders for their contributions to a successful election.
