Ekiti: Justice Ministry, NUJ Officials Meet, Seeks Areas Of Collaborations

The officials of the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice headed by the Attorney General and Commissioner, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN has met with the State officials of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, headed by its State Chairman, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, to have talks about areas of collaborations to promote the rights of citizens in the State. 

Welcoming the officials of the Nigeria Union Of Journalists in Ekiti State to his office earlier on Tuesday, the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN, solicited synergy to promote the activities of the Ministry, particularly the Citizens Rights Department.

Apata emphasized the need for the media to play its role by sensitizing the public so to explore the various platforms provided by the Ministry to access justice and defend their rights.

The Attorney General also described the NUJ as a partner in progress, stressing that the previous collaborations between the two bodies had been fruitful with the citizens knowing more about the activities of the Ministry of Justice.

He explained that the partnership with the umbrella body for journalists was a good step considering the power of the media to reach out to heterogenous audience at a time.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Union, Mr Babatuyi had commended the Attorney General for the positive changes he had brought to the justice sector in the State.

Babatuyi also noted that the ongoing efforts to produce the second edition of the Laws of Ekiti State was an indication that the headship of the Justice ministry was thinking about making access to justice easier for the people.

He called for the enactment of laws that will protect journalists in the State against harassment of all kinds.
