Ekiti Needs Political Stability to Drive Development, Says Atayero of Aramoko

The Atayero of Aramoko Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ambassador Olusegun Aderemi, says Ekiti State must embrace political stability and continuity in governance to fast-track development and sustain progress.

Speaking with journalists during Saturday’s governorship election, the monarch commended the peaceful conduct of voters in his domain. 

He noted that residents turned out in an orderly manner to exercise their franchise without any security incidents.

“As far as my domain is concerned, there is absolute calm. The environment is peaceful, safe, and people are going about the exercise without any problem,” he said.

Oba Aderemi identified lack of continuity in leadership as one of the state’s biggest setbacks. He explained that unlike other states where governors have completed two terms, Ekiti has rarely enjoyed that consistency since its creation, limiting long-term development planning.

He argued that stable leadership would ensure sustainability and better delivery of democratic dividends across party lines.

On security, the monarch, who also serves as Regional President of Occupational Safety in Nigeria, said traditional institutions are working with relevant authorities and using local mechanisms to prevent spillover of insecurity from neighboring states.

While sympathizing with communities recently affected by security breaches, he expressed optimism that such incidents would soon end. He called on residents to stay vigilant, stressing that security is everyone’s responsibility.

“We must be our brother’s keeper. When you see something, say something. If every community is secured, Ekiti State as a whole will remain peaceful and safe,” he added.
