Ekiti Revenue Service Allays Public Fear On Rumoured Tax Laws

The Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service, EKIRS, has allayed the fears of the members of public about the rumours that their bank accounts will be frozen without tax identification numbers when the new tax laws come into effect on January 1, 2026.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement for the implementation of the new tax reform laws at the revenue house in Ado Ekiti, the Chairman of the Revenue Service, Mr Olaniran Olatona, said no bank account will be frozen on non-availability of tax identification number.

Olatona added that the laws will seek to get more revenue for the government by widening the tax net and deploying technology to collect more taxes.

The EKIRS boss also appealed to the members of public to ensure compliance to prompt tax payment.
