A prominent legal luminary and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, and a former President of the Nigerian Bar Assocation and former Chairman of the Body of Benchers, Chief Wole Olanipekun has appealed for an end to insurrection in the Country, describing those behind it as saboteurs.

Olanipekun made his position known while granting media interview at his country home of Ikere Ekiti after his annual empowerment of young entrepreneurs and presentation of scholarships to outstanding students in Ekiti State and other places. 

The renowned lawyer used the opportunity to berate the activities of Nigerians sponsoring disunity, insecurity, killings, terrorism, abductions and projecting Nigeria negatively to the international community in their own country.

He also describe Nigerians promoting ethnicity and religiousity as the enemy of the Country. 

He however called for caution on the part of those sabotaging the peace and unity of the Country. 

Olanipekun maintained that Nigeria cannot progress if Nigerians sabotaging the efforts of the country don’t stop waging war against it. 

He also expressed deep concern over the rising intolerance in the country and what he described as the wickedness of man to man.

According to him, he said, “Nigeria at this critical time needs humanists who are thoughtful, humane and committed to the peace and unity of the country, and not saboteurs. 

He described humanists as people who will not wage war against their own country.

He called on the Presidency to waste no further time and heed to the advise of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye and named the individuals deliberately sponsoring and financing insecurity in the Country. 

He also used the opportunity to call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fast track efforts towards bringing on board a regional federalism system of government for the country. 

“Restructuring remains the most realistic path to national cohesion and development for Nigeria”.

Speaking earlier during the 29th edition of his Scholarship Scheme as well as the 6th edition of his Foundation Empowerment Programme, Olanipekun put smiles on the faces of 255 students who were giving scholarships from secondary to university level. 

He also empowered 250 youths with the sum of N75,000 each under the Youth Entrepreneurship grant. A total of 100 aged received a sum of N30,000 each while 1,500 Ikere Ekiti community people were giving food palliatives. 

Also, addressing the event, the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji commended Chief Wole Olanipekun for his efforts at making the State and the society a better place to live in. 

Oyebanji also called on other well to do people in the State to complement the efforts of Chief Wole Olanipekun by empowering the less privileged. 

Governor Oyebanji used the opportunity to appeal to the residents of Ekiti State to be extra vigilant because of insecurity that has now pervaded the Country, by ensuring they report suspicious movements or strange faces to the Police and other security outfits like the Amotekun and the traditional rulers in their communities on time for immediate action.

A major highlight of the event was when the Chairman of the occasion for the 2025 Scholarship Scheme and Foundation Empowerment Programme, Otunba Olutoye Ariyo from Iyin Ekiti donated a whooping sum of N1 billion in support of Chief Wole Olanipekun’s efforts at affecting lives positively. 

Olutoye hailed Chief Wole Olanipekun for always supporting the less privileged people in the State and beyond.
