A Federal Lawmaker, Honourable Akin Rotimi representing the Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1 comprising of Oye and Ikole local government areas at the House of Representatives of the National Assembly in Abuja has trained about two hundred teachers drawn from the two local government areas he is representing on the contemporary methodologies of teaching in order to enhance their service delivery.

The teachers were participants at a two day capacity workshop held in Oye Ekiti and sponsored by the federal lawmaker representing Ekiti North Federal in  conjunctions with Nurture House Consulting.

During the exercise, he tagged “Strengthening Foundation of Practice” the teachers were taught on how to identify special students, make use of technology, drama, signs, games and other instructional materials to impact knowledge in their students and to also prevent Gender Based Violence, GBV.

In an interview with the press, some of the teachers described the workshop as an eye-opener with a promise to make good use of the knowledge gained.

The participants who could not hide their feelings chanted various songs to eulogize the federal lawmaker for the opportunity to refresh their knowledge and broaden their capacity.

Council Chairmen, political leaders and other dignitaries on the occasion commended Hon. Akin Rotimi for the initiative which they said would reflect in the quality of education in the constituency.

Addressing the gathering, the federal lawmaker, Hon. Akin Rotimi said, “the workshop was part of the fulfilment of his manifesto to carry every body along and ensure that no one is left behind in the scheme of things.

Honourable Rotimi affirmed that teachers are great stakeholders whose role in the development of the education sector could not be quantified.

He said the capacity building workshop was aimed at exposing the teachers to new techniques that could enhance their service delivery.

The lawmaker stressed the need for a special school that would cater for academic needs of children with special medical deficiency to Ekiti State.

He promised to consult with concerned authorities and stakeholders regarding the need to facilitate such special school to his constituency.

He said, “I want to live all my days in office servicing you and working to build a great society. I am counting days. I have so far sponsored four bills. I have moved two motions and two petitions. Many people said as a first timer, I may not get good positions but by the grace of God, I was made the Chairman of the House Committee on Media”.

The idea of living no one behind was a consistent thing in my campaign, during my campaign, I observed that we have left a lot of people behind, the vulnerable persons, those with disabilities, women and many others.

“All that I have done are through personal efforts and support from partners, it will also be replicated in the health sector so that we can have the best health care services”.

This is the bases for naming the programme “Leaving No One Behind, Capacity Development Programme for Teachers 1.0 in Ekiti North Federal Constituency, Oye/Ikole”
