FEDPOLY Sets To Hold 18th Combined Convocation As Ooni, Fashola, Others To Be Honoured

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti is set to hold it’s 18th Combined Convocation ceremony just as the Ooni of Ife, His Majesty, Arole Oduduwa, Olofin Adimula, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; His Excellency, Babatunde Fashola, the former Governor of Lagos State and the current Minister for Works and Housing among others will be honoured at the event.

The lists of others to be honoured includes the Yeye Aare Modupe Babalola, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ABUAD Ventures and Wife of the legal Icon and founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola; Surveyor Babatunde Fakologbon, FNIS, an alumnus of the Institution and Prince Dr. Rotimi Benjamin Ibidapo, OON who is also an alumnus of the Federal Polytechnic in Ado Ekiti.

Unveiling the activities of the 18th Combined Convocation Ceremony and the Institution’s 45th Founding Anniversary, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye, stated, that “the 18th Combined Convocation for the Award of Higher National Diplomas and National Diploma to the graduating sets of 2018/2019, 2019/2020, 2020/2021 academic sessions as well as the conferment of Honourary Fellowship Awards is expected to take place at the Sports Complex of the Institution coupled with the Commissioning of Campus Road Network by the Honourable Minister of Works by 9am at the road site on Saturday, 19th of November, 2022”.

Speaking further, Oladebeye revealed that, “the Convocation Lecture with the topic “The Imperative Of Polytechnic Education In Enhancing The Economic Development Of Nigeria” will be handled by Professor Olufemi Victor Adeoluwa, the Vice Chancellor, Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere Ekiti by 2pm at the Institution’s Conference Centre; the Convocation Rehearsal by 9am at the Sports Complex and the 45th Founding Anniversary, Gala and Award Nite by 5pm at the Conference Hall all on the same day, which is Friday, 18th November, 2022″.

Also, on Thursday, 17th November, 2022; “there will be a Campus Facility Tour and Commissioning of projects by 11am at the project sites while by 2pm same day, there will be a Capital and Endowment Fund Raising Campaign by 2pm at the Conference Hall. On Wednesday, 16th of November, 2022, a Special Convocation Exhibition will be opened by 11am at the Sports Complex and by 2pm on the same day, an Alumni Variety Day Re-Union and Lecture will take place at the Alumni Building and Conference Centre”.

He added that, “the Commencement of exchange of RRR generated receipt for the Polytechnic receipt will start at the School offices and followed by collection of the Convocation materials on the presentation of relevant Polytechnic receipt will also take place at the School offices by 10am from Tuesday to Friday of the Convocation week”.

The Rector further used the opportunity to solicit for support from spirited and well to do individuals and corporate organisations in Ekiti State and in the Country at large to come to the aid of the Institution to improve on the physical infrastructures on the campus. 

He also revealed that the condition of many of the vehicles being used by the Institution are in a very bad state and seeks for the provision of more vehicles as well as more befitting hostels for the students.

Other challenges he itemized being faced by the Institution includes inadequate books and other learning materials in the Polytechnic library, lack of a befitting Convocation Arena for the Polytechnic and absence of a standard Polytechnic Sports Complex that can promote the performances of the sporting events for the Polytechnic Community among many others.
