The Ekiti State Governor for the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, Mr Dada Olasunkanmi, has revealed that the First Film Academy in Ekiti State will soon be ready for commissioning, assuring that the Academy will boost the Creative Industry in the State.

The TAMPAN Governor, Olasunkanmi dropped the message on Tuesday, while fielding questions from Treasure Newspaper, after he conducted our man round the facility where serious building work are still ongoing, to enable the project work completed to time.

According to the sponsor and founder of the project named as Goodwill Film Academy who is also the TAMPAN Governor in Ekiti State, Dada Olasunkanmi, added, that, the future of creative industry in Ekiti State looks very bright and assuring with preparation towards the Goodwill Film Academy located at Ajowa Road, Ado Ekiti which would take place before March 2024.

Speaking further, Olasunkanmi said, “the major reason he decided to float the first film school in Ekiti State is to promote the creative industry and support the current government of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in ensuring that the younger ones in the state achieve their dreams of becoming a star without travelling outside the state or country, and make the state a hub for training future stars in the creative industry.

Mr Olasunkanmi further stated that, “the academy will not just empower the youth throughout the various training that they will get from the academy but also give them exposure. He said this will boost their chances of fulfilling their dreams and visions of becoming a superstar in the creative industry. This academy will cater directly or indirectly for theatre arts practitioners, creative performers, fashion designers, makeup artist and script writers among others.

The TAMPAN Governor further said the academy will also be a platform for collaboration between the government and theatre arts practitioners in Ekiti State.

He averred that the establishment of the first film school in Ekiti State will further strengthened the relationship with the government and the people, and enabled us to even do more and generate revenue for the State.

Speaking further, Olasunkanmi said the film academy will give players within the creative industry the opportunity to partner and collaborate with one another leading to a more robust and vibrant industry.

He however assured that the film school will no doubt help to facilitate people from all over the country, to provide adequate provision and preparation in place to ensure that the film academy becomes a world class standard and a safe place for the youths.

Also, speaking with the Treasure Newspaper, Mrs Sade Adegoke, a UK based major stakeholder in the creative industry said, “the potential of the movie industry in Ekiti state looks very great moving forward. She pointed out that with the support of the government, the future looks more brighter.

She called on the government of Ekiti State to make use of the potentials in the creative industry within the state judiciously to harness and assess more partners into the creative industry.
