The Federal University, Oye Ekiti, FUOYE’s Governing Council has appointed a new Deputy Vice Chancellor, DVC, in charge of Administration and promoted a Director as an Associate Professor Of Economics for the Institution.

Dr. Wole Balogun, the Special Adviser on New Media to the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Sunday Fasina, in a statement signed and sent to the Treasure Newspaper on Wednesday night, revealed that, as a follow up to Senate special session and election on Tuesday, the 7th of March, 2023,
the University Governing Council has appointed Prof. Opoola as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration.
Speaking further, Balogun in his statement explained that, Opoola hailed from the royal family of the Oloogunebi in Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State.
He added that Opoola bagged his PhD in 2000 from the University of Calabar. The erudite Professor Professor of Applied Linguistics, Opoola Bolanle Tajudeen has been newly appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Administration while the Director of the Centre for Continuing Education, Dr. Omolade Adeleke was promoted to the Professorial cadre.

The erudite Professor of Applied Linguistics later served in several capacities as the Deputy Rector, Federal College of Education, Oyo; Dean, Faculty of Arts, FUOYE; Member, Governing Council, FUOYE; Member, African Theater Association, Goldsmith University in London and a member of Nigeria Institute of Management, MNIM.
Balogun described Opoola as a Patron of the Association of Nigerian Authors, ANA, in Oyo State since 2016 and a Fellow of many professional and academic bodies including the Institute of Policy Management Development, FIPMD 2013.
He was listed as a member of the University Senate Representative in FUOYE Governing Council asides his position as the Acting Head of the Linguistics and Languages Department at Federal University, Oye Ekiti between 2017 to 2030.

He was Member, Reconstituted University, Curriculum Committee, Federal University, Oye Ekiti in 2017. He was made the Chairman FUOYE / BOVAS Philanthropic Committee 2019; Chairman, Panel of Investigation on FUOYE Alumni Activities in 2019 and Member, Faculty of Arts Representative in the University TETFUND Committee among others.
Opoola has over 40 academic publications in both local and international journals. He has also supervised many post graduate students in his field. He also served as the Chairman, University Ceremonial Committee till date.
Opoola has served in the Accreditation Teams of NUC to some Nigerian Universities. His Academic sourjourn had taken him to several Universities in the world.

Opoola has also served as an External Assessor of Professorial candidates of some Nigerian Universities among which was Taraba State University, Jalingo in the recent time. He is a scholar and a researcher of repute currently on the Tetfund sponsored Research Team on Dyslexia Inclusive Education in South West Nigeria.
The appointment was ratified by FUOYE Governing Council at the 30th meeting held on the 15th of March, 2023.
In the same vein, Dr Adeleke who was appointed as Associate Professor by the Appointments and Promotion Committee A&PC of the University on Monday, March 13, 2023, after due procedure was followed according to the Regulations of the great Institution emerged as the newly minted Associate Professor of Economics.

Before Dr. Adeleke’s appointment, he won the NRF sponsorship Research Grant in South Africa twice. He also clinched the TETFUND Research Grants in FUOYE in the year 2018.
Dr. Adeleke had his first and second Degrees in Economics from the Ekiti State University (EKSU). He bagged his PhD in Economics from the University of KwaZulu Natal in South Africa.
He was appointed Deputy Director, lnstitute of Part Time Studies (IPTS) in 2021 and after serving for about two years as the Director of IPTS and considering his numerous achievements within the two years in charge of the IPTS, where he ensured that both assets and revenue of the University improved tremendously.

The Management elevated him as the Director of the Institute and in 2023 elevated him further to the post of the Director, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) of FUOYE. He has both the Institute’s Part Time Studies and Distant Learning under his purview as the Director of CCE.
Dr.Adeleke has over 40 publications in accredited journals with 20 in scopus and IBSS indexed.
He is a Research Fellow to the University of KwaZulu Natal South Africa and has successfully produced three PhD graduates.

He is also an External Examiner to the University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg and University of KwaZulu Natal all in South Africa. The Associate Professor of Economics has attended academic conferences across the globe and such included the US, UK, Netherlands, South Africa among others
As part of his academic and Administrative laurels, Dr. Adeleke won the best Director in the entire University for two consecutive years of 2021 and 2022.
He also emerged the students’ lecturer of the year at both Faculty and Departmental levels of the 2018/2019 academic session.
