INEC Labels ADC’s PVC Harvesting Claim ‘Fake News’ Ahead Ekiti 2026

The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, has dismissed allegations by the Ambassador Dare Bejide Campaign Organisation (ADBCO) that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is engaged in illegal harvesting of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship poll, describing the claims as “fake news”.  

Dr. Omoseyindemi made the remarks while reacting to a press briefing held by the ADBCO on Monday in Ado Ekiti, where its Director of Communications, Media and Publicity, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan, accused APC agents of going door-to-door to collect voters’ PVCs and National Identification Numbers (NINs) in exchange for cash and food items.  

Responding to inquiries, the Ekiti INEC REC stated:  “The allegations from the ADC that there is an issue of harvesting of PVCs is fake. What do you want me to react to? This has nothing to do with my office. This is fake news.”  

Aribisogan had alleged that the practice violates Section 121 of the Electoral Act 2022 and could lead to disenfranchisement and multiple voting.
