The newly inaugurated Chairman of Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of Ekiti State, Honourable Gbenga Olawatuyi has pledged embarking on mega projects across the towns and villages in the local government area, in support of the Governor of Ekiti State who supported him to attain his current position.

The Irepodun/Ifelodun local government Chairman, Honorable Gbenga Oluwatuyi while speaking with Treasure Newspaper on Monday at his office in Igede Ekiti, he expressed how remarkable his first day in office was to him shortly after he met and interacted with the staff and heads of department of the local government.
The Irepodun/Ifelodun local government Chairman said his goal is to embark on mega projects like construction of roads and building of health centres in response to the agitation of the Governor of the State.
He further explained that he will focus less on building markets and painting buildings.
The Chairman also pledged to make the issue of security paramount to them.
Speaking on how to raise revenue for all these projects, he said, “they will make payments of taxes compulsory for the people of Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area”.
He expressed his worry over the poor state of the economy of the nation and how it has affected everyone negatively.
He pressed on further to say, “the prices of goods have increased in the market, so it shouldn’t be a problem for the people of the local government area to pay their taxes. If despite an increase in the price of goods in the market, the people still buys from the market. They should also know that it is important for them to pay taxes”.

“He emphasised that the taxes collected from the people will be used to carry out projects in the community”.
He however said he did not want to promise what he will not be able to do until he meets with his heads of various departments in the local government area, thereby helping in bringing about an economic development in the area.
The new Chairman further promised the youths in the local government area not to leave them out in the scheme of things, saying the youths are his friends.
The Chairman, Hon Gbenga Oluwatuyi, pleaded for the corporation and support of the staff and people of Ifelodun/Ifepodun local government at large.
He also promised to use his experience he learnt while he worked for Nine years at the Justice Development and Peace Commission as well as another Nine years at UNICEF before he was encouraged to join politics by the former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
