The Iyin Ekiti Media Office has carpeted one Akeem Adebomojo over his recent social media attacks on the person of Honourable Adesola Adebayo for nominating him as Honourable Commissioner in Ekiti State by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.
In a reaction sent to the Treasure Newspaper on Friday morning, the Iyin Ekiti Media Office described the said Akeem Adebomojo in question as an uncultured character and a rabble rouser who is always fond of spreading propaganda on Social Media to tarnish the image of the well respected personalities like Honourable Adesola Adebayo, who happens to be a younger brother of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo.
The Iyin Ekiti Media Office cautioned Akeem Adebomojo not to link the issue he had with Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the former Governor of Ekiti State with that of Honourable Sola Adebayo. Saying the vituperation of Adebomojo would not stop Honourable Adebayo from discharging roles that will be given him excellently in Government.
Adding that Honourable Adesola Adebayo was not a failure when he was a Commissioner for Works as stated in Akeem Adebomojo’s social media statements”.
They further averred that Honourable Adesola Adebayo only performed the roles assigned to him by the then Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Explaining that Honourable Adesola Adebayo might have not been allowed to perform his duty as Commissioner for Works then because ‘he refused to be used’. Dr. Kayode Fayemi then decided to boycott his office as Works Commissioner all through his second term tenure, and instead relates
with his Special Adviser on Works, Honourable Sunday Adunmo (Galaxy) on everything that concerns infrastructural projects and other assignments that normally should have been the responsibility of the Commissioner for Works, including the World Bank projects.
“Honourable Adunmo supervised all the projects carried out in the last administration. If the writer needs explanation on that, he should simply add it to the list of issues he would raise with Dr Fayemi”.
“This was not peculiar to Honourable Sola Adebayo alone anyway. Many other appointees had similar issues to complain about during Governor Fayemi’s second term tenure. Anyone with enough access and common sense knows this”, Iyin Ekiti Media Office declared.
They berated the roles of the desperate politicians like the writer and his backers would have turned the situation into a media circus and see it as a chance to hug the headlines, but in Honourable Sola Adebayo’s case, maturity and exposure prevailed.
The Media Office equally stated that it is erroneous to allude that becoming a Commissioner is by virtue of being the brother of a former governor. They added that Honourable Sola Adebayo has never brag with such privilege, even while his brother was a sitting Governor.
They reminded Ekiti people to bear in mind that Engineer Adesola Adebayo has been a major financial and contributor to the party as far back as 1999 when his brother started his campaign. He also bankrolled Dr. John Kayode Fayemi when he contested as Governor on both occasions.
They urged Ekiti people to perish the thought that Honourable Adesola Adebayo is not known or loved at home as well as the characters like that of Akeem Adebomojo suggesting such to them which if viewed properly should be considered most ridiculous of all the issues raised.
They described the Adebayo family as one of the most prominent families in Iyin-Ekiti, with track records of service to humanities.
They testified how Honourable Sola Adebayo has towed that line consistently, even outside politics.
They however advised Akeem Adebomojo to seek enlightenment by visiting his leaders at home for better information on happenings in the party.
The Media Office also appealed to His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to shun the tune of division and distraction being played by politicians who failed in their bid to be nominated as Commissioner, despite their desperate maneuvers.
They assured Mr Governor that as far as the people of Iyin-Ekiti are concerned, the choice of Hon. Adesola Adebayo as Commissioner is an excellent one and that as a community, they will continue to support his government.
