Kidnappings/Insecurities: FUOYE VC Counsels FG To Turn Bushes To Farming

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Professor Sunday Fasina has counselled the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to turn the too many bushes in the Country to farming to solve the problems of kidnappings and insecurities in the Country.

The University administrator stated the above while interacting with journalists in his office on Monday as part of the preparation towards the 8th Convocation Ceremony of the Institution which will end on Sunday, 11th of February, 2024. 

Professor Fasina explained that turning the bushes currently serving as hideouts for kidnappers and other evil doers, into hectares of farm plantations would not only end the menace but also provide massive job opportunities and create wealth for the nation. 

He cited an example of his management team’s green revolution initiative in the University which has led to the cultivation of many hectares of land for agricultural purposes, adding that the effort has not only shored up the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the University but also provided casual jobs for some of its teeming students. 

He passionately made the appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently adopt the strategy to nip in the bud the problems of unemployment which is promoting and increasing kidnappings as a survival strategy for some people in the Country.
