LASIEC Debunks Fake 2025 Election Notice on Social Media

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has dismissed a fake notice of elections for 2025 circulating on social media and other online platforms. In a press statement released on April 4, 2025, LASIEC Chairman, Hon. Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (rtd), described the notice as fake and advised citizens, political parties, and other stakeholders to disregard it.
The commission emphasized that the conduct of local government elections in Lagos State is guided by laws, and the notice of election will be published in various newspapers at the appropriate time as stipulated by law. This move is aimed at preventing misinformation and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process in Lagos State.
Reports had emerged online that LASIEC had approved July 19, 2025, as the date for the election, but the commission has denied this claim, urging stakeholders to ignore the false information.
With this clarification, LASIEC has reassured the public of its commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
