The people of Oyo State has been assured that the ongoing circular road project initiated by Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State will birth a new era in the State.

Speaking with Treasure Newspaper in Ibadan on Monday, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr Sulaimon Olanrewaju assured the residents of the State that a new Oyo State will be birth with the Circular Road Project being constructed by Engineer Seyi Makinde’s administration in the State.
Sulaimon revealed that the Circular Road Project is a 110 Kilometre dual carriage road that criss crosses around the entire Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.
He added that for those coming from Lagos, and going towards Ile Ife, they don’t have to get through Iwo road or to Ibadan township. There is an inter-change shortly after the Technical University in Ibadan that will take vehicles straight almost to Ikire.
He revealed that, from Lagos, once those plying the roads gets to Ibadan, instead of going through the City, they will just go straight through the road that takes them to Ikire at one end. At another end of the Circular Road, for those coming from Ile Ife in Osun State, they will be able to access the end of Ojoo when going through the Oyo township.

The Chief Press Secretary explained further that, for those accessing Ibadan from Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital end, they will be able to criss crossed round the whole city and view all the four components of the circular roads.
He described the 110 kilometres circular road project under construction in Ibadan, Oyo State as a look alike / replica of the Lagos / Ibadan express road which is about 120 kilometres road to be done in the capital city of Oyo State.
Speaking further, Sulaimon Olanrewaju said the expectation of the Seyi Makinde’s administration is that the circular road project will boast the economy and make movement in and across the State Capital stress free. Also, he said most of the heavy duty vehicles which usually come into the city will now have to go through the circular roads.
“This development no doubt will further transform the economy of the city and of the State. The Governor is very particular about this circular road project. He was in Cairo, Egypt about two weeks ago to attend a programme packaged by Afrexim Bank and Access Bank and at that event, the Governor was able to sign agreement with Afresim Bank along with other States.

“Part of the money that will be coming in from that, will be used to work on that Circular Road project. The Circular Road project is one project that the Governor is very particular about, because of its impart on the economy of the State.
Responding to a question on how long the circular road project will take to be completed, the CPS, Sulaimon Olanrewaju said, “he did not have the specific details about how long the project will take and because of that, he cannot comment in things he was not sure of.
“But I know that a stretch of the road has been completed. At the moment, six bridges have been completed and the contractors working have already being moved to the other segment of the road.

“The Circular Road Project are segmented into four. One out of the four is almost being completed now.
This is going by the information made available by the Commissioner of Works in Oyo State. So, I don’t have the details of when it would be completed. The Governor has been very particular about the completion of the circular road project”.
