Mater Christi’s 25 Years Silver Jubilee Celebrations: Winners Emerge From It’s Quiz, Debate, Female Football Competitions

Winners have emerged from the quiz, debate and the female football competitions organized as part of the activities to mark the 25 Years Silver Jubilee Celebrations for the Mater Christi at Igede Ekiti in Ekiti State.

Welcoming the participants to the three competitions which took place on Monday at the premises of the Mater Christi School located at Igede Ekiti, the Principal of the Catholic School, Rev. Sister (Dr.) Mary Anselm Nwachukwu while addressing the students and competitors from the Mater Christi Nursery and Basic School who emerged winner in the quiz competition and defeated the Christ Victory Nursery and Primary School stated that the competitions was put in place to test the intelligence of the students participating. 

During the debate competition, the Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti who slogged it out with the students from the Immaculate High School, Ado Ekiti carried the day with a total score of 65 to defeat their opponents.

The second section of the debate session had the Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti facing Government Science College, Iyin Ekiti having the day.

Also, during the female football competition, the Holy Child Secondary School, Ado Ekiti and the Ifeoluwa Model College clashed and the Holy Child Secondary School defeated their rival with  2 – 0 goals aggregate at the end of the match which took place at the Mater Christi School, Igede Ekiti football pitch.

While speaking with the Treasure Newspaper at the Premises of the School on Monday, the principal of the School, Rev. Sister (Dr.) Mary Anselm Nwachukwu said that there are lots of activities for the School’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations, such as Quiz Competitions, Inter School Football Competitions and Debates among different School’s.

Continuing, Anselm said, “as part of our lined up programmes for the Jubilee Celebration, we invited four Nursery and Primary Schools from different places around our environment among which are Christ Victory Nursery and Primary School, Michaelian Nursery and Primary School, Ilawe Ekiti and Mater Christi Nursery and Primary school, Ado Ekiti and they had quiz competitions where that Mater Christi Nursery and Basic School emerged the first from the first round of the competitions”.

“Anselm however revealed that from the Senior Secondary School category, they also invited the Government Technical School, Ilawe Ekiti; Ekiti State Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti; Government Science School, Iyin Ekiti; Mater Christi Catholic Girls School and Mary Immaculate Catholic School for the debate on the question, ‘Social Media Has Done More Harm Than Good’ for the first session and the second session to be ‘Rapists Should Be Given Death Penalty’”.

Announcing the final results, the Chief Judge for the debate competitions, Mr. Tolu Oluwagbemi “declared the Immaculate High School, Ado Ekiti for 3rd position; the Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede Ekiti as 2nd position while the Government Science College, Iyin Ekiti emerged as the 1st position”.

He also stressed that the future is bright and their performances are good. They spoke excellently in their points, but they needed just mentoring and  tutorial to enlighten them more, and it shows that in Ekiti state and in Nigeria as a whole, we have brilliant girls coming up so the future is bright for a girl child in Nigeri
