More Criminals In Trouble As Ekiti Amotekun Intensifies Operations

More criminals are now in big trouble as the Ekiti State Command of the Amotekun Corps headed by its State Commander, Brigadier General Olu Adewa retired has intensified operations against crime activities in the State. 

Going by the fresh update from the Head of Communications Department for the Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, in person of Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, it was revealed how new sets of criminals were apprehended and arrested at various points across the State recently. 

In a press release issued by the Head of the Communications Department for the Amotekun Corps, Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, and made available to Treasure Newspaper in Ado Ekiti, he made public the arrests of one Biremo Ojo, aged 21, and resident at his home town at Isaba Ekiti in lkole Local Government Area of the State since Thursday 19th December, 2024.

He also listed the three others arrested to include Ojo Sunday, aged 22; Sunday Achike, aged 16 and Emmanuel Eriba, aged 30.

The press release revealed that the four suspects were arrested at four different local government areas of Ekiti State within the last one week.

Narrating the circumstances behind the arrests of the four suspects, Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale said, “Biremo Ojo, a native of lsaba-Ekiti in lkole Local Government was arrested last Thursday having caught for stealing iron rods belonging to one Mr. Adeyemi, a resident in the same Local Government Area.

Also, “Ojo Sunday, a native of Omuo-Ekiti, who resides at Obasoore area of the town allegedly stole a Bajaj motorcycle with, REG NO: FU4810H, was arrested at Tosa street in Odooro town of Ikole Local Government Area.

Speaking further, the Amotekun Head of Communications Department, Officer Adeleye Abiodun Adewale, added, “that, on Saturday, 21st December 2024, the Amotekun operatives arrested a 16 years old Delta State born, Sunday Achike who resides in Oye Local Government for alleged involvement in burglary and attempted stealing which he carried out  in one of the shops at a Shopping Complex in Oye Local Government Area where he stole a phone. 

An eyewitness and wife of the Amotekun Commander of the town (name withheld) who was at the scene of the incident said the suspect miscalculated when he jumped from the ceiling of the shop and fell on some bottles kept on the floor and the noise from the fall aroused the interest of neighbors, who promptly alerted the Amotekun Officers in the town.

The suspect however, confessed to the crime upon interrogations by the arresting Officers of Oye Local Government Command.

He claimed to be a student of Federal University of Oye-Ekiti FUOYE

The suspect, who sustained injuries following the fall, was immediately taken to the hospital of the town by the said Officers for necessary treatment.

Also yesterday, the operatives in Efon Alaaye Local Government Command nabbed two suspects: Emmanuel Eriba, 20 years old and a 30-year-old John Ogbam for conspiracy and theft.

The two suspects are residents of the town and hail from Benue State.

The duo were apprehended for alleged stealing of some yam tubbers and TVS motorcycle, owned by one Mr. Ajewole Segun at his farm.

Upon interrogation, the two suspects confessed to have committed the crime, stating their collusion and conspiracy against the complainant.

Meanwhile the four suspects have since been handed over, with all the exhibits recovered from them, to the police in their various towns for further investigation.
