Members of the Coalition of Osun East Youths, Students and Concerned Citizens has on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest and addressed the press over alleged violent statements credited to Senator Francis Fadahunsi.

The protest, which brought together critical stakeholders, youth groups and concerned citizens from Ijesa and Ife communities in Osun East Senatorial District, was led by the group’s leader, Comrade Olatunji Olorunfemi, popularly known as Awokoworldwide.

Speaking with newsmen during the protest, Olorunfemi said the action was in response to the alleged reckless statements made by the senator during the last governorship election and the wave of pre- and post-election violence that rocked the district.

“We elected Senator Fadahunsi to protect our lives and property and to provide responsible and responsive representation. It is therefore deeply saddening that allegations linking his statements to the violence have left the people of Ijesa and Ife demanding answers,” he said.

The coalition demanded a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation into the allegations.

“Where criminal responsibility is established, the law must take its full course — no public office should be a shield against accountability,” Olorunfemi added.

The group also demanded justice for all victims of electoral violence and their families, calling on the Federal Government, the Osun State Government, security agencies and relevant international organisations to treat the matter with urgency.

“Our protest was peaceful, lawful and focused. Our message is unambiguous: Ijesa land will not remain silent in the face of injustice. We demand accountability, responsible leadership, and quality representation for our people,” he said.

“He who has seen 99 cannot be afraid of 100,” he concluded.
