NPC Chairman Visits Kaduna, Tours New Digital Data Centre Facility 

… Pledges To Secure Country’s Population Data

The Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Dr. Aminu Yusuf, has visited Kaduna State, and toured the Commission’s newly constructed state-of-the-art digital data centre facility  the State, describing it as a major boost to Nigeria’s population data management system.

Dr. Yusuf visited the facility on Thursday, where he pledged the Commission’s commitment to building a secure and efficient technology-driven infrastructure for managing critical demographic data nationwide.

During the inspection, the contractor, Havilah Group, briefed the NPC Chairman on the centre’s operational readiness and advanced technological features. 

Dr. Yusuf praised the quality of the project, noting that the facility would significantly enhance the Commission’s capacity to securely store, process, and manage population data.

“I am highly impressed with what I have seen. This data centre mirrors the quality and standard of our facility in Abuja. It is a clear testament to our commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s demographic data systems,” he said.

He commended Havilah Group for delivering a high-quality project and pledged the Commission’s continued collaboration with the firm and other stakeholders to further strengthen Nigeria’s data management capacity. 

According to him, the Kaduna data centre is a critical step in NPC’s digital transformation agenda, aimed at ensuring that population and housing data are secure, accessible, and reliable for national planning and sustainable development.

Dr. Yusuf was accompanied on the inspection by senior officials of the Commission, including the Federal Commissioner representing Kaduna State, Hon. Sa’adatu Garba Dogonbauchi; the Federal Commissioner representing Adamawa State, Dr. Clifford Zirra; the Director-General of the Commission, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun; as well as other senior management and technical staff.

After inspecting the data centre, the NPC Chairman visited the Kaduna State Office of the Commission, where he interacted with staff and management.

He commended their dedication and urged them to remain professional, diligent, and committed to the Commission’s mandate.

“We are making deliberate efforts to improve staff welfare and capacity. I urge all staff to continue to demonstrate integrity, diligence, and excellence in service,” Dr. Yusuf said.

He reiterated his administration’s 7-Point Agenda, noting that it has received endorsements from Federal Commissioners, management, staff, and UNFPA Nigeria.

He directed that the Agenda be prominently displayed in all state offices as a constant reminder of the Commission’s vision and priorities.

Dr. Yusuf also disclosed that discussions are ongoing with the Federal Housing Authority to explore housing opportunities for NPC staff across the country.

Responding to concerns raised by a staff member living with a disability, He assured that the Commission would fully comply with the National Disability Act and ensure that the needs of persons with disabilities are adequately addressed.

The NPC Chairman expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to lead the Commission, reaffirming his commitment to delivering accurate, reliable, and technology-driven demographic data to support effective national planning and sustainable development.

He also commended Hon. Sa’adatu Garba Dogon Bauchi for her warm hospitality and for fostering a collaborative and productive working environment at the Kaduna State Office.
