ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed Chief Kayode Odunaro as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of its Governorship Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Odunaro, a veteran journalist, is the Media Adviser and Chief of Staff to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations.
Also appointed is Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, who will serve as Vice Chairman of the committee.
The appointments were announced as part of measures to strengthen the party’s communication architecture for the 2027 polls.
Both appointees are seasoned journalists and communication strategists with decades of experience in media and public service.
Odunaro has over 30 years experience in journalism and governance. He served as Chief Press Secretary to three former governors of Ogun State – Navy Captain Sam Ewang (rtd), Navy Commodore Kayode Olofinmoyin (rtd) and Chief Olusegun Osoba.
He also served as Special Adviser on Communications to former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole.

Akinmade, a former Editor at the Nigerian Tribune, equally served as Special Adviser on Media to Bankole between 2007 and 2010.
He later served two terms as Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Ondo State under former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, where he also supervised the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
With their combined experience, the APC is expected to have a robust media structure to drive its campaign messaging and manage engagement with the media and the public.
