Osun: Adeleke Opens Lameco Bridge, Begins Project Inauguration Tour

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State on Wednesday has commissioned the Lameco five-span flyover in Osogbo, opening the 672-metre bridge to traffic and kicking off a statewide round of project inauguration. 

The ceremony at the Lameco corridor drew the attention of government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers and supporters, including members of the Accord Party.

Speaking at the event, Adeleke said the flyover was proof of his administration’s commitment to infrastructure that improves welfare and drives economic growth. 

He commended the indigenous engineering team behind the project, saying it shows Nigerian professionals can deliver world-class infrastructure.

The governor thanked Osogbo residents and motorists for their patience during construction, and urged road users to obey traffic rules and avoid practices that could shorten the lifespan of the bridge.

In his welcome address, Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Bashir Salam, described the flyover as a strategic investment for Osun’s future, built to ease chronic congestion along the Lameco axis and improve movement of people and goods.

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, in a goodwill message, praised Adeleke for prioritising infrastructure and prayed for continued success in developing the state.

The Lameco Flyover features solar-powered street lighting for day and night use, and is designed to take all categories of vehicles. It is expected to ease traffic flow, cut travel time and improve road safety in the state capital.

The project is a flagship of the Adeleke administration, with officials saying it will boost commerce, improve connectivity, and support long-term urban development in Osun.
