Osun Parastatal Monitoring Office Hails OSCOTECH On Academic Excellence

The Osun State Parastatal Monitoring Office (PMO), through the office of its Permanent Secretary, Mr Olusola Bolaji, has hailed the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH), Esa-Oke for it’s recent record of academic excellence.

The Permanent Secretary in the office of the PMO, Mr. Olusola Bolaji, while speaking urged the Nigerian youths to focus on job re-skilling, which could make them less dependant on the government white collar jobs, also called for their re-orientation against travelling abroad for greener pastures.

Bolaji went to describe the OSCOTECH Chairman of the Governing Council, Prince Diran Odeyemi and the Rector, Dr. Samson Akinbamide Omobayo Adegoke as “visionary leaders whose synergy has resulted in the peace and progress the College is presently enjoying”.

The Rector of the Institution, Dr. Adegoke, who thanked the visitors for their visit, said, “the courses in the College are designed to make the students self reliant and not necessarily dependant on government white collar jobs.

Adegoke said the College was capable of organizing empowerment programmes for politicians if consulted, adding that it has enough personnel for short courses training and re-training of state and local government staff in town planning, surveying and other professional programmes.

He said the College had programmes already designed for upgrading certificates and up skilling personnel’s for the present work place challenges.

The Rector, however, listed the challenges of the Institution to include insufficient funding and shortage of staffs.

Giving his own speech, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institution, Prince Diran Odeyemi, who received was on ground, received the Permanent Secretary and his entourage in his office, and thanked them for their visit.

Odeyemi used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for appointing him as a Chairman of the Governing Council of OSCOTECH, equally thanked the Management and Staff of the Institution for the good reputation already built.

Meanwhile, in a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Public Relations of the Institution, Mr. Bayo Ajilore, it was revealed, that, “the Permanent Secretary observed that the State has a healthy youthful population which if properly channeled, will contribute positively towards the development of the State”.

He emphasized the need for the re-orientation of youths against traveling abroad for greener pastures. He suggested the importance of the youths focusing on job re-skilling, which cam make them less dependant on government white collar jobs.

Ajilore stated that “the approved results of JABU graduating students revealed that three OSCOTECH students mentioned who made First Class Honours also had Distinctions in their HND programme in OSCOTECH.

With their outstanding performance, these students have further confirmed the standard of OSCOTECH academic activities and affirmed OSCOTECH ‘Distinction grade’ relevant in the university settings.

Those present at the meeting includes the Deputy Rector, Mrs Cecilia Kehide ljitona; the Registrar, Mr. S.O Popoola and the Bursar, Mr. J.O Makinde.

Others on the entourage of the Permanent Secretary are the Director, Administration and Supply, Mr Adeagbo Adedere and Mr Folorunso Joseph Lasun.
