Two suspected burglars have been arrested by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command in Ado-Ekiti, with two imported water closets recovered from them.
The suspects, Omoyajowo Anu, 27, and Obere Dare, 35, were apprehended at about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2026, by detectives from the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, said the arrest followed credible intelligence that hoodlums had been terrorising residents of Ile Aanu Quarters/Imole Oluwa Community, Abayamedi, off Ilawe Road, in Ado-Ekiti.

Acting on the tip-off, the Command deployed VCRU operatives to the area, where the duo were intercepted while conveying building materials suspected to have been stolen.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to breaking into a residential building in the community and removing the water closets. Detectives have since visited the scene for assessment, and the recovered exhibits are in police custody.

Abutu said efforts are ongoing to identify and contact the owner of the affected property, while investigation has been intensified to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover more stolen items.
The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid crime-fighting efforts.
