Rite Foods Chairman Marks 80th Birthday With N2 Billion Trauma Centre Donation

Asiwaju Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa, Chairman of Rite Foods Limited, has donated a trauma centre to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu, Ogun State, worth over N2 billion. The facility was commissioned by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima on April 5, 2025, as part of Adegunwa’s 80th birthday celebration.

The 50-bed centre is equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment and staffed by skilled healthcare professionals. It’s designed to handle approximately 2,000 trauma cases monthly, providing critical care to accident victims and patients with trauma-related conditions. This facility bridges a significant gap in Ogun State’s healthcare system, particularly along the Lagos-Benin-Ibadan corridor, where accident rates are alarmingly high.

The trauma centre’s establishment is expected to significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Ogun State and neighboring regions. By providing timely and effective medical care, the facility will reduce preventable deaths and improve patient outcomes. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda for upgrading Nigeria’s health institutions.

The Vice President, Kashim Shettima praised Adegunwa’s initiative, describing it as a timely contribution to Nigeria’s healthcare system. Also, His Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun commended Adegunwa for his humanitarian feat, acknowledging the trauma centre as a significant milestone in Ogun State’s healthcare development.

Dr. Oluwabunmi Fatungase, Chief Medical Director of OOUTH, expressed gratitude for the donation, highlighting the facility’s potential to save millions of lives.
