The International Institute of Journalism, Ado Ekiti Campus yesterday held its Student Representative Council Election where Mr Seun Ayodele from the PGDAP emerged as the President.

The election was held in the school hall after a long week of campaigns which ended with manifestos on Tuesday 19th of March, 2025.
At the end of the exercise, Oluwaseun Ayodele (PGDAP) polled a total number of 41 votes to defeat Gabriel Adesoji (PGDJ) who managed to poll 19 votes. For the position of the Welfare Director, Remi Aleshinloye (DIP II) defeated his rival Aderemi Afesojaye (PGDJ) with 34 to 24 votes while two votes were voided to emerge the winner.
The other positions won were unopposed with Olayinka Olowofela (PGDJ) emerging as the Vice President; Caleb Obisesan (PGDJ) as the General Secretary; Oluwatosin Bamidele (DIP 1) as the Assistant General Secretary and Deji Aleshiloye(DIP 1) as Treasurer.
Others are; Anthony Olajide (PGDJ) as the Public Relations officer; Olusegun Adegoke (DIP 1) as the Social Director and Sunday Abimbola (HD 1) as Assistant Social Director.
The Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr Idowu Adebomi who supervised the election also conducted the swearing in ceremony for the winners in the election.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Seun Ayodele who spoke on behalf of other Executive Members thanked his colleagues for coming out to exercise their franchise and for the trust reposed in him by electing him.
He commended the management for the elections transparency while assuring the students populace to deliver on his campaign promises.
The Coordinator of the Institution, Mr. Dare Daniels applauded the students for their maturity and peaceful conduct before, during and after the elections. He commended the Sportsmanship of all the contestants and called on those who lost the election to work together to uplift the image of the school.

The keenly contested election was observed by the State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi ably represented by Comrade Niyi Alade, the Technical Advisor to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Akogun Tai Oguntayo PHD, and the immediate past President of the IIJ SRC and a host of lecturers who were present to witness the election.
