Speaking to journalists, Bankole explained his motivation for creating SPEAK FORWARD, emphasizing the need to enhance the communication skills of young Nigerians. He aims to shift their focus from digital distractions to the core skills of public speaking and effective communication, essential for leadership success.

Bankole pledged his commitment to bridging the gap in public speaking skills among the youth. Reflecting on his school days, he highlighted the importance of press clubs, literary societies, and debating clubs in developing public speaking skills, encouraging schools to revive these initiatives.

Addressing the young attendees, Bankole urged them to pursue their dreams despite any obstacles. He emphasized the limitless potential of human beings and the importance of communication and personal expression in self-discovery. He encouraged the youth to master persuasive and public speaking.

At the event’s grand finale, Chief Judge Zenim Surgwak announced the competition winners: Kingsley Ekpenyong from Cross River State took first place, Aliyu Suleiman from Kaduna State secured second, and Sally Chidiebere Wilson from Anambra State placed third.

Ekpenyong, a poet and public speaker, attributed his victory to his blend of humor, storytelling, and poetry. He advised his peers to pursue their passions with dedication and continuous learning.

Second-place winner Aliyu Suleiman, a political science graduate and human rights activist, urged young Nigerians to reject negativity about Africa and work towards its development. He stressed the importance of education as a transformative tool.

Third-place winner Sally Chidiebere Wilson expressed gratitude to the SPEAK FORWARD organizers and encouraged her fellow youths to persevere and continue developing their public speaking skills.

The SPEAK FORWARD project attracted over 200 applicants, with 15 finalists competing in the grand finale. Bankole expressed his intention to make the program an annual event to nurture more public speakers in Nigeria.
