SSANU Southwest Leadership Set To Intervene In FUOYE’s Branch Faceoff With VC

The leadership of the Senior Staff Association Of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, in the Southwest Zone, led by its National Vice President, Comrade Abdussorbur Olayiwola Salaam; the Zonal Secretary, Comrade Oseni Adewale Saheed and Zonal Treasurer, Comrade Babatunde Emmanuel Adeoye are set to intervene in the face-off between the FUOYE SSANU Branch and the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Fasina on Monday, which had earlier led to the suspension of the Chairman and Secretary of the Branch.

A circular obtained by Treasure Newspaper on Wednesday, dated 11th of December, 2024 and signed by the National Vice President, Southwest Zone of SSANU, Comrade Abdussorbur Olayiwola Salaam on the subject titled: “FACT-FINDING DELEGATION FROM THE NATIONAL: DIRECTIVE TO CONVENE A BRANCH CONGRESS” to address the crisis which led to the suspension of the Chairman and Secretary of the FUOYE SSANU Branch. 

According to the circular, the SSANU Vice President (Southwest Zone), Comrade Abdussorbur Olayiwola said, “the leadership of the Union has been inundated with calls and communications from the Executive and individual Branch members of SANNU at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti. This is in view of the face-off between the Union and Management of the University, culminating in the suspension of the Branch Chairman and Secretary from the University by the Management.

Continuing, the SSANU Vice President said, “in order to ascertain the true state of affairs in the Branch, you are hereby directed to convene a Congress of the Union on Monday, 16th December, 2024 at 12 noon”.

The circular however directed the FUOYE SSANU Branch to mobilize all its members to attend the Congress.
