Traditional Title Chiefs Begins Office Project As Ooni Turns Sod

Members of the Ekiti State Traditional Title Chiefs has begin the construction of a new office for its use in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Saturday tagged “ULE IJOYE” as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi who was represented by Agbole of Agbaje Ife, Oba Adekunle Adebowale.

During the sod turning for the building project, the Ooni of Ife hailed the Traditional Title Chiefs for their efforts towards actualizing the dream of having the first “ULE IJOYE” house among the South West States of the Country.

Meanwhile speaking with the Chairman, Association of Traditional Title Chiefs in Ekiti State, who also doubled as the Asolo of Ikole Ekiti Kingdom, High Chief Oluwole Ogunsakin, used the opportunity to appeal to spirited individuals to come to the aid of the body by assisting in the constructing of the ”Ule Ijoye”, which he said would create revenue generation and further promote unity of purpose among Chiefs.

He went further to state that the role of traditional chieftaincy title holders cannot be overemphasized adding that they work with the Obas for the growth and development of their communities.

“The association has been in existence for over 30 years and we have not been opportuned to have our own building. Our association comprises male and female Chiefs. It’s not a pressure institution and we work together with the Kabiyesi for the advancement of the state.

“We have so many chiefs but there is difference between Traditional Chieftaincy Title Holders. These are the original Chiefs that work with the kabiyesi in all the communities for the progress, unity and maintenance of culture and traditions.”

Giving his remarks at the event, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event, the Elemo of Ilawe Ekiti Kingdom, High Chief Gbenga Agbona said the project would go a long way to generate revenue for the Association in the State.

Adding, Chief Elemo described as very essential the roles of the traditional chieftaincy title holders, considering the numerical strength of the association which would paved the way for more developments in partnership with the traditional rulers.

Also, the representative of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Sunday at the event, a member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Honourable Lateef Akanle, the Governor noted that when the edifice is completed, it would create avenue for all Traditional Chiefs to come together and contribute to development of Ekiti State as well give useful suggestions that would help government in achieving its policies.
