University Lecturer Adopts Artificial Intelligence As Solution To Solving Future Human Problems

A University Lecturer currently serving as the Acting Rector of Adeyemi College of Technology, ACT, Dr Kehinde Adenegan and who lectures at the prestigious Adeyemi Federal University Of Education, Ondo has adopted the use of artificial intelligence as the only solution to solving and resolving all future human related problems in the world.

Dr Kehinde Adenegan dropped the above message while delivering a lecture paper titled: “Breaking Boundaries: Extending The Frontiers of Science And Education Through Artificial Intelligence For A Brighter Future” at the formal opening ceremony of the Annual National Conference of the School of Science, at the Adeyemi Federal University of Education, AFUED, in Ondo recently. 

During the lecture, Dr Adenegan defined  Artificial Intelligence, AI, as a powerful tool, used in scientific researches which its application has helped the scientists to tackle complex problems thereby helping them to make significant breakthroughs in their activities.

Speaking further, Dr Adenegan identified key areas where breakthroughs were recorded, to include discovery of drugs, climate modeling, analyses of data, as well as accelerating the pace of discovery in scientific activities. 

He further explained, that, “when augmenting human capabilities, Artificial Intelligence will help in pushing the boundaries of what is possible in various scientific disciplines thereby leading to ground breaking advancements and novel insights”.

Emphasizing the need for integration of Artificial Intelligence in Science and Education, the renowned Mathematician, said the move would help in breaking down long-standing barriers, and providing unprecedented opportunities, for scientific discovery, innovation, and progress. 

Speaking on challenges confronting integration of application of Artificial Intelligence, AI, in Science and Education, Adenegan listed the challenges to include ethical problem, data privacy, job displacement, osmotic indolence as well issues bordering on lack of transparency and accountability. 

As panacea towards addressing the challenges, the ACT Acting Rector, stressed the need for scientists to be proactive, stating that the move would enable them harness full potentials of AI, in their efforts at achieving progress, and recording new innovation in Science and Education.

Earlier in a speech delivered by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Adeyemi Federal University of Education, AFUED, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, he congratulated the organizers, while expressing optimism that communiqué that would be issued at the end of the conference, would provide solution that would pave way for a brighter and more prosperous future. 

Represented by the Chairman, Committee of Deans, Dr. A. O Akinbobola, the Acting University Administrator, assured organisers of the conference of commitment of the institution’s management, towards supporting initiatives, that would foster interdisciplinary collaboration, promote inclusivity and harness potential of AI in the task of addressing “complex challenges facing our world”. 

The programme which held at Obongawan Grace Ekong lecture theatre, also featured delivery of keynote address, by Professor Michael Olufemi Awodiran from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife.

The Annual conference was well attended by eminent personalities from all walks of life including staff and students of the Institution.
