There was a pause in the room at the INEC office, Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday in the presence of the INEC stakeholders nationwide

The INEC National Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan lifted the sealed voters’ register, looked across the table, and the words hung in the air for a second: “Receiving… verifying… loading…”

Then, with a firm nod and a handshake captured by every camera present: “Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo, recognised Chairman, African Democratic Congress, Ekiti State Chapter — the voters’ list is hereby presented to you.”

The “loading” was done. Status: Confirmed.

For the ADC faithful who packed the hall, that moment settled it. No faction, no dispute, no ambiguity. The electoral umpire had spoken through protocol: the man authorised to receive, to sign, and to lead ADC into the next phase in Ekiti is Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo.

As he received the documents, Omolayo said simply: “ADC Ekiti is one, and we’re ready. This list represents the people we serve, and we receive it with responsibility.”

The message was clear: In the eyes of INEC, the chain of command runs through one desk — and it bears the nameplate Hon. Ilesanmi Omolayo, State Chairman, ADC Ekiti.
