The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Honourable Idris Aregbe has pledged the readiness of the State Government to turn the entire Lagos into a global cultural epicenter with a view to proclaim the State as an undisputed cultural, financial and entertainment capital of Africa.

The Lagos State Governor’s Special Adviser made the above statement in a press release signed by his Media Aide, Mr Manny Ita, and sent to Treasure Newspaper on Tuesday at the Oniru Sol Beach where the Ministry had set up a gigantic screen – the biggest in Africa for viewing of the AFCON final match.

According to Honourable Idris Aregbe, he said, ‘the bustling metropolis is not just content with its continental status as it is setting its sights on global recognition, positioning itself as a burgeoning tourist destination and aspiring prominent global city.

Continuing, Aregbe maintained that, “with the rich tapestry of traditions and modernity, Lagos has offered an unparalleled array of cultural experiences. From dynamic art scenes to a thriving music and culinary landscape, the city is a melting pot of diversity. This unique blend, Aregbe posits is a testament to the city’s commitment to embracing its heritage while fostering innovation and progress.

“Lagos is not just a city; it’s an evolving masterpiece, a canvas of diverse cultures, and a symphony of progress on the global stage. In the heart of Lagos, you don’t just witness culture; you become a part of its living, breathing narrative—an experience that transcends borders”, Aregbe assures.

He went on to reveal that the vibrant transformation is not going unnoticed on the international stage. He assured that tourists from around the world are increasingly drawn to Lagos, and enticed by its cultural richness and the promise of a truly immersive experience. The city’s strategic initiatives are not only elevating it as a global tourist hotspot but also positioning it as a contender for the coveted title of a global city.

Setting up viewing centers all over the city (like at artsy Eyo Center, beautiful Sol Beach, and historic Onikan Stadium) gave locals and visitors a taste of Lagos’ vibrant culture. Music and dance added to the fun, creating a festive atmosphere that brought people together.

He described the clever move by the Lagos Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture to transform a sports event into a celebration of Lagos itself, leaving everyone with a lasting impression and solidifying the city’s image as a place with much more than just sports to offer.

“He pleaded with Lagosians to continue to confidently strive towards global recognition, not as just a destination; but as a journey through time, tradition, and the pulse of a city determined to leave an indelible mark on the world”, Aregbe concluded.
