42 Groups Have Endorsed My Candidacy, Osun APC Flagbearer Claims

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has said the people of the state are eager for a change of leadership ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, expressed confidence that he would defeat the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke.

Speaking on Tuesday at the Arise News Osun Governorship Town Hall held at the Aurora Event Centre, Osogbo, the APC candidate dismissed insinuations that his campaign is relying on federal might to win.

He said his confidence is rooted in the massive support he has received during extensive consultations across the state.

According to him, he has toured more than 30 local government areas in the state three times, engaging party members, community leaders, traders, artisans, youths, women and civil servants.

“I have visited 30-plus local government areas in Osun State three times. Nobody has ever done that,” Oyebamiji said.

He explained that his first round of visits was to consult APC members on the party’s readiness to reclaim the state, which he said received overwhelming support.

He said the second round was to inaugurate campaign canvassers across the local governments, adding that their energy and commitment were encouraging.

“The canvassers were charged, they were motivated, and they were encouraged. It’s quite illuminating,” he said.

Oyebamiji said his third tour involved interactions with key stakeholders, including market leaders, artisans and civil servants, which further convinced him that the electorate desires a new administration.

He claimed his campaign has secured endorsements from about 42 different groups and professional bodies in the last two months.

The former Commissioner for Finance insisted that the outcome of the election will be decided by the people of Osun and not by any external influence.

“By the special grace of God, I’m coming in as the governor of Osun come 15th of August 2026. It is not by any power, whether it is national power or mighty power, it is by the people,” he stated.

Oyebamiji downplayed concerns over Governor Adeleke’s popularity, urging voters to assess both candidates based on competence, background and track record.

“So I want you to just go and bury that idea of ‘marries’, because they are jittery. They are jittery because, of course, I can’t compare,” he said.

“Put Bola Oyebamiji with his background and put the governor side by side, and you want to employ an MD of a private enterprise. Who out of those two would you pick?”
