BOUESTI Denies Convocation Stampede, Confirms 2 Students Dead at Off-Campus Graduation Party

The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti has dismissed online reports claiming a stampede occurred during its Second Convocation Ceremony, clarifying that the tragic incident took place at a private off-campus party.
In a statement signed by the Registrar, Mrs Adenike Adeusi, the University said the Convocation proceedings were conducted peacefully, successfully, and without any disruption at the official venue or within the University premises.
Further clarifications from the BOUESTI’s Management revealed that the violent incidence and stampede did not occur on campus at the Convocation venue or anywhere on University grounds during or after the ceremony.
The University’s Management maintained that the incident about the stampede case in circulation happened at Emirate Hotel, where some graduands independently organized a night party to celebrate their graduation. A fight reportedly broke out at the hotel, leading to a stampede.
The University confirmed that two graduands and one other student lost their lives in the off-campus occurrence.
The institution expressed condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
BOUESTI however urged the public and the media to verify facts before publication and to stop linking the unfortunate incident with the University’s Convocation event or venue, describing such claims as inaccurate and misleading.
The statement reaffirmed the University’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, order, and integrity in all its activities.
