Ekiti Amotekun Dismisses ‘Fake Uniform’ Plot Claim, Demands Evidence From ADC Campaign

The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has dismissed allegations by the Ambassador Dare Bejide Campaign Organisation (ADBCO) that thugs are being kitted in counterfeit Amotekun uniforms to disrupt the June 20, 2026 governorship election, insisting the claims remain unsubstantiated.

Reacting to the press briefing held by ADBCO’s Director of Communications, Rt. Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan; the Head of Operations, Ekiti State Amotekun Corps, Mr. Ajayi Aderotimi, described the allegations as “rumours” and “baseless” until backed with proof.

“I am just returning to Ado Ekiti from a journey now. I just got to Iyin Ekiti,” Aderotimi said when contacted over the phone on Monday evening for a response. “If they have their facts, let them bring it out now. I am not going to react to rumours. I don’t just react to baseless allegations.”

Aribisogan had earlier alleged that the ADBCO possesses “credible intelligence and video evidence” of individuals being trained in fake Amotekun uniforms to intimidate voters, snatch ballot boxes, and attack polling agents on election day. 

He called on the Amotekun Commander and the Police to arrest anyone found impersonating operatives of the regional security outfit.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police Force are yet to issue formal statements on the claims raised by the ADBCO at the time of filing this report.
