Allow Osun People Choose Freely, Adeleke Appeals To Imo Political Leader

The Chairman of the Imole Youth Campaign Mobilization Team, Hon. David Adeleke, has appealed to a prominent political leader from Imo State to allow Osun people to choose freely in the forthcoming governorship election, while also calling for peace and calm.

Adeleke made the appeal while addressing a press conference on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at the Office of the Imole Campaign Organisation.

He urged residents of the state, particularly the youth, to reject all forms of violence and intimidation before, during and after the poll.

“My people of Osun State, especially our young people, I speak to you today not just as Davido, but as one of your own and as a voice for our people,” he said.

He stressed that no political ambition is worth the life of any Osun indigene and urged the electorate to come out en masse to exercise their civic rights without fear.

“Let us reject violence, intimidation, provocation, and destruction. Your vote is your voice and your choice must be respected. Let us show the world that Osun people are peaceful, courageous and determined to build a better future,” he stated.

Adeleke also appealed to a prominent political figure from Imo State, whom he described as a father figure, over alleged plans to interfere in the Osun poll.

“To our daddy from Imo State, I say this with respect. I have heard rumours suggesting that there are moves to interfere in the Osun election or use the state as a political battleground to prove a point. I do not present these claims as facts, but I appeal to you to use your influence to promote peace and allow the people of Osun to choose their candidate freely,” he said.

He said his appeal was informed by his personal connection to Imo State, as his wife, Chioma, hails from the state.

The Imole Youth Campaign Chairman  further urged all contestants to place the interest and safety of the people above their personal ambitions.

“Politics is temporary, but Osun will remain. No political victory is worth violence, destruction or the loss of a single life. If they choose you, let the victory be through their votes. If they choose someone else, let their decision be respected,” he added.

He concluded by calling on all Osun residents to participate peacefully in the election and let their voices be heard.
