Breaking News! 100 Years Old Man, 7 Others Arrested, Detained On Order Of Oba Femi Olugbesoye Finally Granted Bail, Released To Go Home

An 100 years old man and 3 others who were arrested and detained on the orders of the Kabiyesi of Oluloro of Iloro Ekiti Kingdom, Oba Femi Olugbesoye has been discharged on bail by the High Court of Justice sitting in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Granting the bail applications moved for each of the 4 detainees out of the total of 8 people arraigned by High Courts 4 and 10, by their counsels in person’s of Barrister Femi Familusi and Barrister Olasunkanmi Falade; Justice O.I.O. Ogunyemi “granted their bail applications in the sum of N1 million and two Sureties in like sum”. 

“Justice Ogunyemi in his ruling further mandated the defendants Sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court with concrete evidence of landed properties, where both sureties must show evidence of regular tax payments for at least five years up till date”. 

Justice Ogunyemi added that, “one of the sureties must be a recognized traditional Chief or a civil servant of not less than grade level 12”.

Meanwhile, upon fulfilling all the court conditions for their bail and release, they were left off the hook from the Correctional Centre on Tuesday evening to go home.

Earlier, before their bails applications were argued and granted, the 8 defendants have appeared before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti with charge number MAD/310/2022 in a case instituted between the Commissioner of Police and 8 others which are Michael Ogundele, Ayorinde Jimoh, Taiwo Adebayo, Alowolodu Joseph, Ofini Ezekiel Idowu, Ilesanmi Dele, Ajayi Sunday and Jimoh Saliu. 

At the Magistrate Court Case, “the court was informed that there is probable case to order the remand of Micheal Ogundele, Ayorinde Jimoh, Taiwo Adebayo, Alowolodu Joseph, Ofini Ezekiel Idowu, Ilesanmi Dele, Ajayi Sunday and Jimoh Saliu in Correctional Custody who are reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of Conspiracy, Malicious Damage, Threatening violence, Attempted Murder and Armed Robbery on Oba Oluwafemi Olugbesoye ‘M’, Chief Olusola Alofe ‘M’, Babajide Johnson ‘M’ and Adelerin Ayodeji ‘Punishable Under Section 421, 354 (1) (8), 46, 241 (b) and 312 (1) & (2) (b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021, within the Ijero Ekiti Magisterial District on or about the 23rd of October, 2022 at about 11:30a.m”.

Out of the 8 defendants who appeared before different High Courts, 3 of them were granted bails at the High Court 4, 4 of the defendants by High Court 5 and 1 by High Court 10.

Those who were granted bail at the Ekiti State High Court 4 are Chief Michael Ogundele, Adebayo Taiwo and Alowolodu Joseph. 

At the Ekiti State High Court 3, the following people were also granted bail and they include Dele Ilesanmi, Ayorinde Jimoh, Jimoh Saliu and Ofini Ezekiel Idowu while only Ajayi Sunday was granted bail by the Ekiti State High Court 10.
