The first edition of the Faculty Valedictory Lecture Programme of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ilorin, will hold on Thursday 16th March, 2023.
Professor Jacob Folorunso Olorunfemi would be delivering the lecture on the topic, “Revisiting The Way And How Of What is Where” at the lecture hall of the Faculty of School of Social Sciences of the University.
Professor Olorunfemi, an erudite scholar was born on November 2, 1952. The illustrious son of Ayedun -Ekiti, in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, attended Egbeoba High School, Ikole-Ekiti from 1965 to 1969. He also attended Aquinas college, Akure, in Ondo State, from 1970 to 1971 before proceeding to the prestigious University of Ibadan, from 1972 to 1975.
For further studies, he travelled to the United Kingdom where he attended the University of Bristol from 1977 to 1980. The Professor of note was appointed as Graduate Assistant at the University of Ilorin in 1976. He became lecturer 11 in the University in 1980 and lecturer 1 in 1981 and later rose to a Senior Lecturer in 1983.
Professor Olorunfemi, was a member, Remote Sensing Society, United Kingdom. Auditor, Population Association of Nigeria, 1987 to1989. Secretary-General , Nigerian Society of Remote Sensing, 1988 to 1990.
The Professor has recorded several achievements in different areas of human endeavour and maintained unblemished records all through his years of service having supervised a good number students for Masters and Ph.D respectively with so many publications to his credit. He is happily married and blessed with good children.
As part of the arrangements in place for the first Faculty Valedictory Lecture Programme of the department, there shall be motorcade from the school gate to the department of Social Sciences, exhibition of vintage cars and power bikes by Vintage Cars of Nigeria (VCN), to be anchored by Professor A. Toye of the Faculty of Agric, as well as Cocktail for guests and Staff at the Faculty Board Room of the University.
