The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) has said no student died during the issues that came up with the CBT examinations as the rumour is being peddled by fake news noisemakers.

The management has also postponed the Computer Based Test (CBT) examinations by one week in order to address issues raised by students and other stakeholders concerning the conduct of the exams.

Some issues have been raised concerning the conduct of the examinations which bother on the fact that some students are yet to be examined.

But as usual, the Management as ably led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina has swung into action by visiting the examinations centre to see to the issues on ground.

A statement made available from the office of the Registrar, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim, on Thursday, March 30, 2023 and entitled: “PRESS RELEASE ON CBT EXAMINATIONS”, reads in part: “The University Management noted the issues that have arisen in the course of administering the CBT as we make academic progress with the First Semester Examinations; and strongly express regret at the turn of events.

“However, it is pertinent to point out that concerned students had been duly informed that the CBT had been cancelled for Thursday, 30th March 2023 to accommodate the JAMB Mock UTME as scheduled. It is unfortunate that students still troop in large numbers to the University’s ICT Centre, which almost resulted in mob action.

“To this end, all CBT Examinations have been postponed for one week as an immediate and interim measure. For the avoidance of doubt, all pen-onpaper First Semester Examinations would go on as scheduled, please.

“It is worthy of note that the Vice-Chancellor and his Management Team were physically present at the ICT Centre today to address the matters as they arose. The Vice-Chancellor has further set up a Committee to address all the issues identified in this regard – from planning/scheduling to allegations of extortion made against some security personnel.

“Thankfully, no casualty was recorded as the Vice-Chancellor and the Management Team as well as the University Health Centre personnel were fully available to handle emergencies.

We sincerely regret any inconveniences these may have caused”.
