Interior Minister X-ray Solutions To Insecurity In Nigeria 

… Three 1st Class Graduands Exceptional In FUTA

The Honourable Minister for Interior under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, Honourable (Dr) Olubunmi Tunji Ojo has X-rayed five solutions to solving miralds of insecurity in Nigeria.

The Federal Minister highlighted the solutions while delivering the Convocation Lecture titled: “Technological Innovations: A Panacea For Food Insecurity” during the 34th and 35th Combined Convocation Ceremonies of the Federal University of Technology, Akure held at the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium on Friday. 

The Honourable Minister while dealing with the topic “Technological Innovations: A Panacea For Food Insecurity”, posited that the relationship between Technology and Security has become crucial in addressing contemporary security challenges in the Country, emphasizing the importance of traditional security measures which can help to provide comprehensive and timely solutions to emerging threats. 

He also advocated the need for the integration of technological Innovations into the Country’s security framework with the hope of enhancing the effectiveness of security operations, and offering both preventive and reactive capabilities.

Ojo however x-rayed the five specific solutions to tackling the insecurity in Nigeria to include: the real – time surveillance and border security, cybersecurity and data protection, predictive analytics and AI for crime prevention, big data analytics for terrorism and crime networks as well as Communication and coordination. 

Another major highlight of the 34th and 35th combined convocation ceremonies of the Federal University of Technology, Akure was the conferment of the award of first degrees on the graduands and the recognition of the outstanding ones. 

Out of the 519 graduands with first class grades during the combined  convocation, only three were exceptionally outstanding with the highest CGPA. These include: AJAKAYE Oluwasegun Joshua who studied Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with a CGPA of 4.95 (2023/2024 academic session), FAROMIKA Ifeoluwa Faith who studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a CGPA of 4.96 (2022/2023 Academic Session) as well as VITOWANU, Johnbull Anuoluwapo who also studied Industrial and Production Engineering equally got a CGPA of 4.96 (2022/2023  Academic Session). 

Speaking during the event, the 8th Substantive Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, highlighted some of her current achievements in office to include An Instrumental Access Award from the Seeding Lab, Boston, Massachusetts, USA totaling 106 in number and worth about USD 200,000 she received on the 1st of August, 2024 on behalf of the Institution; the Department of Urban and Regional Planning of the FUTA was awarded the best Urban and Regional Planning Department in Nigeria by the Town Planners Registration Council, TOPREC following the 2023/2024 accreditation exercise as well as a total of 59 academic programmes fully accredited by the National Universities Commission, NUC, for academic accreditation and professional accreditation by the relevant professional bodies.
