All is set for a private organization, known as Durian Foundation to partner the Ekiti State Government in turning waste to wealth by converting the local resources, local waste and land into prosperity for the State through the empowerment of 500 Youths.
The Representative of Durian Foundation, Tony Joy who met with some key aides of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji in the Agricultural sector on Tuesday expressed the readiness to engage youths of Ekiti State in Social Enterprises and Community Work across the local communities of Ekiti State.
Fielding questions from Treasure Newspaper, Tony Joy also assured the readiness of the Durian Foundation to create an ecosystem that will help to guide the planting, the production, the processing and the re-used of wastes to achieve gain in the State.
“For us at Durian Foundation, all we are set to achieve in Ekiti State is to train, engage and make farming interesting for youths to do. It is also our plan to make farming interesting and attractive by capitalizing on value chain.

“Durian Foundation is also poised to see that Technology is used to drive farming and climate matters thereby making it easier for young people to drive the process of farming with ease and without stress.
Speaking further, Tony Joy said, “Durian Foundation is ready to teach the people of Ekiti State how to create crafts, reduce local waste in their communities and most importantly, attract more people to Agriculture.
Also, assured that, it will use Agriculture as a means to save many from poverty instead of leading them to it by aligning themselves to the dreams and visions of the Governor of Ekiti State for the Agricultural sector using the key value chain within the State.

The Durian Foundation Representative at the partnership meeting, Tony Joy however charged the residents of Ekiti State most especially youths not to run away from the local communities, but to embrace it, describing the rural communities as the coolest and the best place for opportunities.
Also, speaking with Treasure Newspaper, the Senior Special Assistant to the Ekiti State Governor on Farm Settlement and Agriculture, Mr Adewole Matthew re-emphasized the stand of the Ekiti State Government under the leadership of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to improve food security in the State and partner with notable investors.
He expressed the readiness of the Governor Oyebanji’s administration to continue to subscribe to the introduction of mechanized farming into the agricultural landscape of the state, and encouraging human resources to be locally sourced.

Adewole used the opportunity to call on the youths of Ekiti State to make use of the opportunity being provided by the Durian Foundation to save themselves from hunger and poverty.
He assured the youths of the state who showed interest in farming, of the readiness of the State Government to help in marketing their farm production for them by moving them to places like Lagos to sell.
