Ekiti Road: Again! FRSC Alerts Public On Traffic Diversion

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ekiti State Command has once again alerted the public in Ekiti State on the state of some of it’s roads most especially as it concerns traffic diversion.

Speaking with the Treasure Newspaper on Tuesday evening, through a press release signed and sent by the Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC 8.2, CC Elijah Olusola Joseph, he alerted the general public of the road blockage and traffic diversion from Iwaraja Junction starting today, 20th of September, 2022 for the period of two weeks.

The Sector Commander added that, starting from today, 20th of September, 2022; “road users plying the route should make use of the road stretch between Igede and Efon Alaaye Ekiti assess their destinations”.

According to the FRSC boss, “he explained that the purpose of the traffic diversion is to allow for road rehabilitation”.

CC Elijah Olusola Joseph revealed further, that, “there will be total blockage for heavy duty trucks at Iwaraja Junction, while only smaller vehicles will be allowed to pass through Iwaraja – Efon Alaaye or from Ilesa to Efon Alaaye”.

“Vehicles leaving Ado Ekiti to Ibadan or Lagos should divert at Igede Ekiti and follow Igede Ekiti to Igbara Odo Ekiti and then to Igbara Oke to Ibadan while those coming to Ado Ekiti should take Efon Alaaye Ekiti to Okemesi Ekiti to Ijero Ekiti Ido Ekiti and to Ado Ekiti”.

Also, he said, “vehicles coming through Ifaki Ekiti should divert at Ifaki Ekiti junction and follow Ifaki Ekiti to Ido Ekiti to Ijero Ekiti to Ikoro Ekiti to Okemesi Ekiti and then to Efon Alaaye Ekiti”.

The press release equally explained “that the reason why it is only smaller vehicles that would be allowed on the routes is as a result of the advise giving by the site Engineer for the rehabilitation work to be successfully carried out on the identified portion of the road unhindered”.

However, the Ekiti FRSC Command enjoined members of the Public not to make use of the Efon Alaaye Ekiti to Ikogosi Ekiti route because of the risk associated with the road as a result of it’s hills, slopes, bends and encroachment of thick vegetations that are associated with the road thereby making it dangerous and prone to road traffic cratches.

He listed the best and safe alternative route to Include the Efon Alaaye Ekiti to Okemesi Ekiti road and the Ifaki Ekiti to Ijero Ekiti to Okemesi Ekiti and to Iwaraja and then to Ilesa road.
