Ekiti-born presidential aspirant, Jide Filani of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) has unveiled his vision for national renewal at an aspiration summit held on Friday, May 9, 2026, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Addressing supporters, Filani decried Nigeria’s crumbling infrastructure, failing healthcare system, food insecurity, erratic power supply, and rising civilian deaths linked to porous borders and outdated weaponry. “Nothing is working in Nigeria,” he said, arguing that the country’s security architecture is no match for external threats.

The civil engineer and YPP presidential aspirant called on young Nigerians to back what he described as a “revolutionary vote,” regardless of age.

He stressed that Nigeria’s vast natural and human resources remain untapped due to poor leadership. “We are blessed with enormous resources. What we need is visionary, energetic leadership in the executive arm,” Filani stated.

If elected, he pledged to prioritize agriculture, security, job creation, infrastructure, health, and education.

He also criticized high government spending on luxury items, promising compulsory free education nationwide and a healthcare system that doesn’t force pregnant women to rely on traditional herbs.

Filani, who says he has sponsored over 89 students through his foundation, positioned himself as part of a new generation of leaders ready to “unite, reform, reshape, and prosper Nigeria”.
