Nigeria @64: University Don Releases Film To Reflect Nigeria’s Past, Inspire Future

As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Anniversary, a renowned mathematician and university lecturer, Dr. Kehinde Adenegan of Adeyemi Federal University of Education Ondo, has released a thought-provoking film series, “The Tale of Hexagon City,” to inspire a brighter future for the nation.

The 16-episode film dedicated to an erudite scholar and a renowned mathematician, Professor Ezekiel Olusola Ayoola, is available on the Yoruba Mathematics Class (YMC) YouTube channel.

Speaking further, he described the 16-episode film as a gripping narrative that explores Nigeria’s journey, challenges, and aspirations. Through the lens of Hexagon City, Dr. Adenegan masterfully weaves a tale of power struggles, revolt, and reckoning, sparking crucial conversations about leadership, governance, and citizenship.

“Hexagon City’s story mirrors Nigeria’s own struggles and triumphs,” Dr. Adenegan explained.

“By reflecting on our past, we can forge a better future. This film series is my contribution to Nigeria’s growth and development.”

The film which is digitally produced for PASTMCC – Pan African Science Technology and Mathematics Cinema Competition. Each episode delves into themes such like ‘The clamor for change and the rise of new leaders’, ‘Women’s empowerment and the struggle for equality” and ‘The consequences of tyranny and the power of collective action’. 

“The Tale of Hexagon City” is not just a film; it’s a call to action. Dr. Adenegan urges Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to engage with the series, spark meaningful discussions, and contribute to shaping a brighter future for Nigeria.
