The Ogun State Police Command wrapped up a packed week of operations, recruitment, and community policing between 26th and 30th April 2026, with CP Bode Ojajuni leading multiple fronts across the state.

26th April – Ikenne Area Command Takes Shape:

The week began in Ikenne, where CP Ojajuni, standing in for IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, received a temporary facility for the new Ikenne Area Command and broke ground on its permanent structure. 

During a visit to the Ikenne Security Coordinating Centre, the CP praised its tech-driven approach to intelligence sharing and rapid response. 

He also lauded the Ikenne Development Association, headed by Barr. Olufemi Allen, for its support of local security infrastructure.

27th April – OOU Ibogun Gets Police Post:

CP Ojajuni then took his delegation to Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ibogun Campus, for a security assessment. In talks with VC Prof. Ayodeji Agboola, Provost Prof. Bashir Odufuwa, Oba Timothy Sowumi, school management, SUG leaders, and community reps, he addressed concerns about safety on and around campus. 

The outcome: an immediate plan for a new police post near the university, increased patrols, and tighter collaboration with NSCDC, Amotekun, and So-Safe Corps. The CP also inspected Ibogun Divisional HQ and issued fresh directives to officers.

27th–28th April – Five Gateway Poly Students Rescued:

Later that night at 2255hrs, Ipara Division got a distress call from Sapade. Officers found an abandoned ash-coloured Toyota riddled with bullets and blood stains, with phones and a Gateway Polytechnic ID inside. 

CP Ojajuni activated a full-scale intelligence-led operation, deploying SWAT, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, VCRU, QRS, OP MESA, Isara Area Command, and Ipara Division. 

By 1500hrs on 28th April, joint teams combing the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and Fidiwo axis rescued all five abducted students. The kidnappers fired at operatives but were outgunned and escaped with suspected injuries. No officers were hurt. 

The victims were debriefed and taken to the Police Hospital, Abeokuta, where doctors confirmed they were stable.

29th April – CP Hands Over Rescued Students:

At Eleweran HQ, CP Ojajuni formally handed the students over to Gateway Polytechnic authorities. He praised the tactical units for their professionalism and noted that bush-combing was still ongoing to capture the fleeing suspects.

28th–30th April – Constable Recruitment Exams Underway:

Alongside operations, the Police Constable written exam ran from 28th–30th April at PCIT Kobape, Abeokuta. 

The Command assured candidates of a transparent process and reminded them to come in white shorts, T-shirt, and canvas, with printed invitation cards and NIN slips.

30th April – SWAT Foils Cattle Rustling at 2:30 a.m.:

The week closed with another win. At about 2:30 a.m., SWAT operatives responded to a farmer’s distress call from Omitoro Village, Ifo/Ibogun. They intercepted a “Korope” mini bus and arrested Muhammed Monsur and Olaseinde Olatunji. 

Recovered: a stolen cow worth ₦1.7 million, a knife, and the vehicle used for the crime. Two other gang members escaped into the bush. The cow was documented and returned to its owner, while the suspects remain in custody as the case moves to further investigation.
