Photos Emerge as Police SPU Operatives Allegedly Escort Factional NURTW Group to Cause Crisis in Osun

Pictorial evidence has emerged allegedly showing operatives of the Special Protection Unit, SPU, of the Nigeria Police Force escorting suspected political NURTW factional group believed to be affiliated with the All Progressives Congress, APC, from one motor park to another to foment crisis in Osun State.

The evidence is being brought to the attention of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to ensure his office is properly briefed on the true security situation in the state and not misled by reports from the State Command.

Meanwhile, journalists who visited some motor parks in Osogbo on Monday reported violent clashes at major parks in the state capital, raising fresh concerns over security ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.

Eyewitnesses said that on Monday morning, Fakunle Garage and Ibadan Garage were taken over by a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, leading to chaos that disrupted commercial transport activities.

Some witnesses alleged that the group forcefully displaced workers and commuters at the parks, although these claims could not be independently verified as of press time.

Several witnesses identified the leader of the faction as Alhaji Kaseem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, a former NURTW branch chairman at Old Garage.

According to accounts from the parks, Aregbe Garage and Olaiya Garage remained operational but tense, while Old Garage was largely deserted following the heavy deployment of security operatives to strategic motor parks across Osogbo.

Efforts to speak with those alleged in the above report as at time of this report we’re not successful.
