Stop Using PDP Name For Personal Interests, Ado LG Chairman Akibon Tells Odeyemi, Temitope

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Hon. Ojo Akibon, has warned Hon. Femi Odeyemi and Hon. Makanjuola Temitope to desist from parading themselves as Chairman and Secretary of the party in the council area.

Akibon said the party would no longer tolerate individuals who are not part of its recognized leadership issuing statements and taking decisions in the name of the PDP in Ado-Ekiti.

He clarified that the authentic and recognized leadership of the party in Ado-Ekiti Local Government consists of himself as Chairman and Hon. Dada Anthony as Secretary.

His reaction follows a recent statement credited to Odeyemi and Temitope, where they claimed to be speaking as leaders of the Ado-Ekiti PDP while defending former Deputy Governorship candidate, Deji Ogunsakin, over alleged campaign fund issues.

According to Akibon, allowing unauthorized persons to use the party’s name and offices could cause confusion among members and mislead the public.

“We want to make it absolutely clear that Hon. Ojo Akibon is the Chairman of the PDP in Ado-Ekiti Local Government, while Hon. Dada Anthony is the Secretary. Nobody should continue to parade himself as Chairman or Secretary when he does not occupy those positions within the recognized party structure,” he said.

“The PDP is an institution. Its name, offices and identity cannot be appropriated by individuals for personal political interests.”

Akibon stressed that the party would not allow its platform to be used as a cover for individuals who have questions to answer regarding their political conduct.

He noted that the controversy over campaign funds should be addressed by those directly involved and not presented as the official position of the Ado-Ekiti PDP without authorization from the legitimate leadership.

While speaking on party integrity, Akibon commended a party chieftain, Anifowose, describing him as a “refined gentleman politician” who has remained loyal and committed to the PDP for almost two decades, with contributions extending beyond the local government to the state level.

“If anyone has integrity questions to address, he should address them himself. He does not need to hide behind people who are presenting themselves as PDP leaders. The authentic leadership of the party is capable of speaking for itself and defending the interests of its members,” Akibon stated.

He issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Odeyemi and Temitope to retract all statements issued or authorized by them in which they presented themselves as Chairman and Secretary of the Ado-Ekiti Local Government PDP.

“We are calling them to order. They should stop parading themselves as Chairman and Secretary of Ado-Ekiti Local Government PDP. If they continue to use the name and offices of the PDP without authority, the party will take appropriate legal steps to protect its name, structure and identity,” he warned.

Akibon called on PDP members in Ado-Ekiti and the general public to disregard any statements from persons not authorized to speak for the party’s recognized local government leadership, adding that official communication would only come through the legitimate structure.

He urged members to remain calm and assured that the leadership remains focused on rebuilding the party’s grassroots structures and strengthening unity across the 13 wards of Ado-Ekiti Local Government, with emphasis on discipline and accountability.
