“Politics Should Build, Not Destroy” – NDC Reps Candidate Condemns Attack on ADC Office in Ekiti North

The candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ikole/Oye Federal Constituency, Apostle Ayodele David-Adesua, has condemned the attack and destruction of the senatorial campaign office of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ido-Ekiti.

The office, belonging to the ADC senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Dr. Funsho Ayeni, was reportedly vandalised, with pictorial evidence of the incident in circulation.

In a solidarity statement issued on Saturday, September 20, 2026, Apostle David-Adesua described the act as political intolerance, vandalism and destruction that is “unacceptable, undemocratic and alien to the peace-loving nature of Ekiti people.”

Expressing solidarity with Dr. Ayeni and the ADC family in Ekiti State, the NDC candidate said elections should be a contest of ideas, policies, character and capacity to deliver, not an avenue for violence and intimidation.

“We may belong to different political parties, but we are not enemies. We are brothers and sisters contesting to serve the same people,” he said.

David-Adesua stressed that politics should build and not destroy, that campaigns should focus on issues affecting the people of Ekiti North – including jobs, security, education, agriculture and infrastructure – and that tolerance must be upheld before, during and after the general elections.

He joined the ADC in calling on security agencies to conduct a thorough, impartial and transparent investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

He also urged all political parties, candidates, supporters and youths in Ekiti North to embrace peace, campaign with decorum, and allow the electorate to freely decide.

“My sympathy is with Dr. Ayeni and the ADC. What affects one of us affects all of us in Ekiti North. We need peace to win together,” he added.
