Tinubu Appoints Fayose REA Chairman, Names 26 Others in 10 Agencies

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, was named Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency, REA. He will serve on the board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engr. Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as Non-Executive Directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed Executive Directors complete the board.

In other appointments, retired Major General Junaid Bindawa was named Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, NSIWC, while former member of the House of Representatives from Lagos State, Hon. Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was appointed Secretary of the Commission.

Also appointed as Federal Commissioners for the Wages Commission are Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo) and Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), while Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engr. Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi) were appointed as members.

President Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju, who was previously the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund, NLTF, as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC.

Other appointments approved by the President include:

  • Dr. Abuh Mohammed – Director-General, National Population Commission, NPC • Dr. Akinola Odeyemi – Managing Director, Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, NBET • Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin – Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, NAEC • Engr. Julius Oloro – Chief Executive Officer, National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, NCAM, Kwara. He replaces Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
    The President also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, FRC, with Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman. Other members of the board are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

Similarly, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, NMEC. He replaces Prof. Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, PTDF, in April.

At the Federal Housing Authority, FHA, Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist and legal scholar who is currently Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC, was named Executive Director, Finance. He replaces Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election.

According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
