67 Days After, Eda Oniyo Kidnapped Victims Released As One Dead 

… No Noticeable Interventions From Government Authorities, Security Agencies – Omo Edema

The worshippers abducted during an attack on a Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) crusade in Eda Oniyo-Ekiti, Ilejemeje LGA, Ekiti State, have been released.

The victims reportedly regained their freedom around midnight on Friday. They are now being taken to a hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

Popular Radio broadcaster in Ekiti State, Omo Edema on his facebook page revealed that the release occurred “without any noticeable interventions from government authorities or security agencies.”

Out of the 15 worshippers kidnapped, one died in the captivity. The survivors are said to be in critical physical and emotional condition.

Their release came without any noticeable intervention from government authorities or security agencies, according to community accounts.

The attack happened on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, when suspected gunmen invaded an open-air crusade organized by CAC. The officiating pastor was killed during the incident, and 15 congregants were taken to an unknown destination.  

When contacted, Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abutu Sunday, said: “I am sorry I couldn’t pick your calls. You will hear from me soon concerning the trending news at Eda-Oniyo, please.”
