Ekiti National Assembly Members In Abuja Doing Nothing! Part 1

What are the National Assembly members representing the people of Ekiti State doing? This same question is what has been on the lips of many people, both young and old in the State in recent times.

Since the creation of Ekiti State some years ago, the people of Ekiti State have seriously failed to ask questions from their representatives most especially those who have been sent to Abuja to represent them at the National Assembly, comprising the Red and Green Chambers.

Year in and year out, all what they do is to come to Ekiti State most especially during festive periods to be sharing rice and other food items. After which, they will go back to Abuja and not bother to relate or interact with those who voted them to represent them at Abuja.

No doubt, many of the representatives from Ekiti State have failed the people. They have only find their way to Abuja to enrich themselves and their family members.

What project have they done other than to share rice and other food items to Ekiti people as if Ekiti has no better priority or needs than food. Few of them who come to Ekiti State always sleep about in hotels and hidden places that the people who elected them will find it difficult to locate them.

Those who decided not to even come to the State, stay permanently in Abuja, squandering away the funds they are given to develop their constituencies. Some prefers to spend on non-indigenes who do not know how they secure tickets to contest for elections that gave them the mandate they have been enjoying. 

Some also prefers to spend their money on those they “patronize” by moving from one luxurious hotel to another, lavishing the resources that are supposed to be meant for the development of Ekiti State. 

They failed to realize that, with their actions, dispositions, attitudes and in-actions, they have wasted away many opportunities the Ekiti people ought to be enjoying through them. Another thing they have been wasting is the time of the people of the State who elected them.

This is a wake up call to the performing Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to call them to order because Ekiti State is in dare need of rapid development to catch-up with other States that are doing well economically. The community friendly Governor who had earned a good name for himself through his giant strides in making Ekiti known and great in all strata of life needs these big representatives of Ekiti  politicians in Abuja to complement his good works because Ekiti State has not gotten to her ‘eldorado’ yet.
